Reznik, Yosef
Yosef, son of Chaya and Zvi Reznik, was born in the town of Toytschein, near Kaunas, Lithuania, on April 5, 1919. Yosef immigrated to Israel in 1946. He joined the IDF and participated in various battles. During the War of Independence, Joseph was caught in a battle against enemy armored vehicles near Kiryat Anavim. He displayed great heroism and continued to fight even when he was alone in the battle, and without realizing the danger he was in, Yosef saved his entire group from annihilation. Yosef’s friends testified that he was “a fierce fighter who did not know how to withdraw.” After the War of Independence, Yosef joined the Israel Police and worked in a special department against infiltrators. On the 22nd of Adar, MArch 9, 1953, Yosef fell while serving. He was thirty-four years old. He was laid to rest in the Kfar Saba military cemetery.
