Reuven, Uri


Son of Mazal and Ezra, was born on January 21, 1961, in Petah Tikva, and at a young age Uri went to work at odd jobs after completing seven years of schooling at the Korczak School Before joining the IDF, He worked as a locksmith. In March 1978 Uri enlisted and served in the Maintenance Corps, first as a locksmith, and at his request he moved to serve as a quartermaster. He was devoted to his work. On the 3 rd of Av 5741 (4.7.1981) Uri fell during his service in the IDF. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Petah Tikva. He was 20 and a half years old when he died. Uri left behind his parents, two brothers and a sister. The commander of his unit wrote to his family: “Uri served in our unit for a period of one year and four months, after completing a professional course with honors, and he was very fond of his colleagues and respected his commanders. In his memory, a Torah scroll was placed in the synagogue, where his family prays in Petah Tikva.
