Reiter, Zvi
Son of Freida and Jacob, was born on the 22nd of Sivan (22.6.1957) in Haifa. He grew up in the Neve Sha’anan neighborhood of the city and began studying at the “Izraeliya” elementary school. In 7th grade, he moved to junior high school at Ironi Gimel High School and completed his studies at a boarding school near Yad Nathan School of Practical Engineers. During his studies he belonged to the Mahanot Ha’olim movement and in the framework of the school took part in various sports competitions, mainly swimming. Zvika was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early November 1975 and was assigned to the Ordnance Corps, where he underwent professional courses and acquired skills in handling and repairing various war tools, from tanks to tanks. In early October 1978, Zvika was released from regular service, and his father was accepted to work at Solel Boneh as a mechanical equipment mechanic, and Zvika was a “gold hand” in terms of heavy mechanical equipment. Thanks to all this, he acquired the love and esteem of his superiors and his friends On 3 Tamuz, June 24, 1982, First Sergeant Tzvika fell in combat in Lebanon during Operation Peace for the Galilee and was brought to rest in the military cemetery in Haifa. He left a pregnant wife (his son Gilad was born after they fell), parents and a sister. In his letter of condolence to the family, his commander wrote: “Tzvi stood out for his good temper and diligence, and as a result of conversations with his friends in the maintenance department, he was a social man who did his work faithfully and devotedly.”
