Reisenberg, Zvi

Reisenberg, Zvi

Son of Zipporah and Avraham. He was born on February 25, 1925 in Ein Harod. As a child, he moved with his family to Be’er Tuvia, where he attended elementary school, and during his studies excelled in the soccer game. He had a collection of children around him and organized them for competitions in this game. Zvi was a handsome young man, strong and broad-shouldered, full of youthful passion and devoted to work. He was not yet seventeen years old and volunteered to be among the first Palmach members, and as a member of Hashomer Hatzair, he accompanied a youth group of Hashomer Hatzair who took part in one of the first trips of his kind to Masada and Ein Gedi. At the end of the journey, when the travelers lit a bonfire, a large explosion took place, apparently from heating pomegranates that were attached to Tzvi’s belt, causing dozens of injuries, eight of them killed, Zvi among them. Beer-Tuvia was dedicated to a memorial list and ended with the words “The Israelite deer on your stage is a space, how heroes fell!”
