Reis, Nachman
Nachman, the only son of Sarah and Meir Reis, was born on April 28, 1930 in Berlin and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1934. He joined the ranks of the Haganah in 1946. and after the War of Independence, he enlisted and chose to join a combat unit in the Givati Brigade. After training in Sharona, he was flown to Gush Etzion where he worked very hard to build fortifications, mine the land, and partake in numerous battles. Nachman fell on the 4th of Iyar (May 13, 1948) in the last attack on Kfar Etzion. On the 17th of Cheshvan 5710 (November 17, 1949) he was transferred to eternal rest, together with the rest of the victims of the Gush, at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
