Reichel, Ronen


Son of Nitza and Yeruham. He was born in Givatayim on Thursday, October 31, 1965. When he was seven years old, the family moved to Holon and here Ronen studied at the Arava Elementary School. Ronen was an active student and volunteered for various activities at the school, which he received at the end of the eighth grade and an outstanding student certificate. He graduated from the Miterani High School in the drafting track. Ronen loved playing guitar, singing and playing basketball. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement and went with his comrades to labor camps. At the beginning of January 1984 he was drafted into the IDF, and Ronen began serving in the Nahal Brigade, but decided to serve like his father in the Armored Corps. He finished basic training and continued the course at the Armored Corps School. After graduating from a military training course, he trained and served in Lebanon, where he loved military life, and when he came home, he recounted military experiences and humorously described life at the base. Ronen Raichel served in the Armored Corps, was a dedicated and loyal soldier, a model and loved friend of his friends and commanders. He was brought to rest at the military cemetery in Holon and left behind his parents, brother and sister, Tzachi and Esti, and in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: Nun fell from a murderer who attacked a patrol he commanded. Ronen was a very good, responsible and very high professional commander. Ronen loved the country and believed that our goal was to defend the borders, both in times of calm and in times of war.
