Son of Yocheved and Menachem-David Hacohen. He was born in 1914 in Uzchikicolna, Galicia. Under the influence of his older brother Yaakov, who immigrated to Eretz Yisrael before him, he also immigrated to Israel in 1936. For about a year he lived in his brother’s house in Kfar Hadar in Hod Hasharon and then moved to Rehovot. He lived a commune life with three other friends – David Mintzer, David Klein and Aryeh Hecht. Together with them, he joined the ranks of the Haganah and enlisted in the Guard Corps and together they worked in citrus orchards. On 15 Elul, September 10, 1938, the four went out to escort workers of the Israel Electric Corporation to their work. Upon their return, they were attacked by an Arab gang and Naftali and his three friends were killed. He was laid to rest with his friends in the Rehovot cemetery. He left a brother in Israel and the rest of his family perished in the Holocaust. A list in his memory was published by the workers’ committee of the Israel Electric Corporation in the booklet “In Memory of Friends in Work and in Preservation”.
