Reese, Freddy

Freddy, Dennis and Jacque Reese’s eldest son, was born in Paris, France in 1961. He lived in a dangerous neighborhood because there were often clashes between Jews and Arabs. The Jews in Freddy’s hometown lived with a sense of insecurity, and therefore Freddy had a desire to immigrate to Israel. In his sixteenth year, Freddy, against his parents’ wishes, decided to immigrate to Israel. He was admitted to a boarding school in the Netanya area as part of the Youth Aliyah. A year later he had to return to France because of family problems, but when he reached the age of eighteen, he returned to Israel alone, but this time permanently, proving determination and a Lev full of love for Israel. When he enlisted in the IDF in 1979, Freddy volunteered for the paratroopers unit and completed his service as a paratrooper. Despite his loneliness, his love for the land and its loyalty to the ideals that led him to Israel did not diminish. About a year after his release, Freddy volunteered for the Special Unit for the War on Terror, with the deep conviction that Jews must be protected from harm, and that it was his duty to contribute to the security of the people as much as possible. On 3 Sivan, 10.6.1986, three days before leaving for the officers’ course, Freddie was killed in a car accident a few minutes away from his home in Be’er Sheva,. He was twenty-five when he fell. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Be’er Sheva. He left behind a wife and a son.
