Redbogin, Ran
Ben Sarah and Isaac. He was born on the 27th of Shevat 5731 (February 7, 1971) in the settlement of Atlit. His nickname was Rennie. He studied at the elementary school in the village and continued his high school studies at the agricultural school in Kfar Galim. He was active in the Scouts movement in the Shofim tribe. Loved the sea and entertainment and especially music. He was friendly and loved by everyone. He was recruited for compulsory service at the end of July 1990 and was assigned to serve in the Armored Corps, and after completing basic training he completed a course in the company’s platoon and completed it as an outstanding trainee. He then took a driving course in a Merkava tank. Was proud of his military role and excelled at it. Due to orthopedic health problems discovered during his service, he lost his medical profile and was moved, to his dismay, to serve in the maintenance corps. Ran, who was used to being active and contributing, saw his transfer to a non-combat position as an injury that was difficult to accept. Ran fell during his service on August 8, 1991, and was brought to eternal rest in the military section of the Atlit cemetery. Survived by his parents and three brothers – Dan, Zohar and Gil. His parents commemorated, in cooperation with the local council and community center, the establishment of a library in his name at the Atlit Community Center. On the general memorial day for Israel’s fallen soldiers, the library was inaugurated. The evening was attended by public figures and volunteers from Atlit, who praised Ran’s activities in the Shofim tribe during his military service. The unit commander wrote in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family about Ran’s dedicated, responsible and punctual functioning.
