Raz, Yoav


Ben Esther and Moshe Resforker. He was born on 28 May 1973 in Ramat Gan, the youngest son of his parents. When he was seven, Yoav was orphaned from his mother. He attended the Neveh Shalom Elementary School in Ramle and the Torah and Hora School in Tel Aviv. After graduating from the ORT Chabad High School, Yoav was a diligent student with a good grades, who loved to help everyone, and spent most of his time reading books, especially suspense books, Yoav loved music and played organ. Yoav was drafted into the IDF in mid-September 1991 and was stationed in the IAF. After basic training he was sent to an air-intelligence unit as a printer. According to his commander, he was “a quiet, restrained and pleasant soldier with soldiers in his unit, both in the division where he served and in other units.” On the 28th of Adar 5752 (February 28, 1992) Yoav fell in the line of duty and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Ramle. A father, who died two years later, left three brothers – Shlomo, David and Mordechai, and a sister – an inheritance. According to his sister, it was difficult for the rest. Even among his nephews who lived near him, Yoav lived among them. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Despite the brief period of time spent in the unit, Yoav was proven to be an exemplary soldier, dedicated, loyal and responsible, who performed his duties with precision and caring. His father donated a Torah library to the Magen Shalom synagogue in Ramle.
