Raviv, Avner


Son of Sarah and Chaim. He was born on the 28th of Adar 5765 (June 2, 1965) in Tunis. When he was nine months old, his parents immigrated to Israel with three small children and set up their home in Rishon Letzion. Avner attended the Remez elementary school and the junior high school in the Mizrach neighborhood in Rishon Letzion. He began his high school studies at the Holtz School in the drafting and finishing program at the Johanna Jabotinsky School in the field of mechanics and airplanes. In July 1983, Avner was drafted into the Israel Defense Force and was sent to the IAF Technical School for a mechanical training course. And was assigned to serve at the Air Force base. Avner specialized in generators. He persisted in his work over time and indeed achieved a high level of professionalism. He was promoted to sergeant and went on a driver’s course. Avner was connected to his family and involved in everything that happened to the family. Two of his brothers served during this period in regular service and he felt great responsibility for his parents. In August 1986 Avner signed a military service. In the form of opinions on those serving in the permanent establishment, Avner received high assessments. It is mainly noted for its reliability and that it can be trusted even without supervision. Disciplined and responsible, behaves courteously and creates a good and friendly atmosphere around him. On January 7, 1987, Avner was killed in a traffic accident near the Beit Dagon junction, where Avner was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Rishon Letzion, and left behind his parents and three brothers – Zion, Michael and Yair. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, Avner’s commander wrote: “Avner served in the unit for three years in the compulsory army and one year in the army, and expressed his desire to continue serving. He worked in the unit as a generator technician and performed all the activities at the base and field. He worked at a high level, showed great responsibility and dedication and was a good friend to many other soldiers. “Following an investigation conducted during 2017, he was promoted to the rank of First Sergeant.
