Ravayev, Yekutiel


Son of Tamar and Abba. He was born in 1881 in Derbend, the Caucasus, in Russia. At the age of 20 he married a wife and began planning his immigration to Eretz Israel. In 1910 his wife passed away and Yekutiel went with his three children on a long journey to Eretz Israel. On the way his young son died and his burial place is unknown. After many hardships, the family arrived in Israel and settled in Beer Yaakov. Yekutiel joined Hashomer and worked for a short time in Rishon Letzion. A few months later, the family moved to Petach Tikva, where a second son died. He married a second wife who bore him another daughter to the one who survived after the boys died. In April 1916 he fell as a guard in his battle with Arabs in the village. He was laid to rest in the Petach Tikva cemetery. He left a wife, two daughters and a sister in Israel and left a brother and sister in Russia. His grandson, Major General Yekutiel Adam, fell sixty-six years later in the war for the Galilee.
