Rattanowski, Shimon


Son of Jacob. He was born in Poland in 1920. In 1937 he joined the ranks of Betar and later became a member of the Revisionist Alliance, and in 1937 immigrated to Eretz Israel as a student, studied at the Hebrew University and was active in the Yavneh and Yodfat Revisionist Students’ Union. After completing his training period, he held various positions in his organization. During the Second World War he enlisted in the British Army and was assigned to the Air Force. On 26 Nisan, April 9, 1945, he died in an explosion on the deck of the Ammunition ship in which he sailed from Egypt to Italy. A list of his memoirs was published in the book “Remembering Netzach” and his name was immortalized in “The Book of Volunteerism” in the book “Yizkor” by the Jabotinsky Institute and in the “Book of the Year of the Journalists” 1956.
