Raphael, David
David, son of Esther and Joseph, was born on December 9, 1954, in Hadera. He studied at the Tlamim Elementary School and the Moshe Sharett Primary School in Kiryat Ono, and then continued his studies at the Amal School in Tel Aviv, with the aim of guiding students. David studied and worked. His teachers loved him and his superiors praised him for his diligence and perseverance, for his responsibility, for his precision, and for his diligence. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed youth movement, founded the Tzavta Club in Kiryat Ono, was an active member and invested all his energies in it. David was sociable and easy to make friends, socially friendly, easy to be angry, not gossipy and a loyal confidant. He was patient, listened attentively to everyone, and loved to help others, even if it was inconvenient. He was kind, courteous and polite, gentle and pleasant. His friends loved him for being always good to them, he had a sense of humor, was honest and conscientious, handsome and demanding. He was honest and modest, far from arrogance and disdainful of condescension. He liked the simplicity, was not picky and was happy with what he had. He was a loyal son and devoted to his parents and respected them greatly. Before he was drafted into military service, he took a driver’s course.
David was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in mid-May 1973 and assigned to the Armored Corps, where he underwent additional training and was sent to an armored unit. In the letters that he made sure to write home, he calmed them as much as he could so they wont worry. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, his unit was sent to the front in the Golan Heights. October 6, 1973. David was killed at the Battle of the Hahermonit, was brought to rest in the Kiryat Shaul cemetery, left behind his parents, brother, and sister, and was promoted to the rank of corporal
