Ramon, Uzi


Uzi, son of Avraham and Shoshana Ramon, was born in 1932 in Kibbutz Mizre. In August 1950 he was drafted into the IDF and continued to fulfill all his duties. He reached the rank of lieutenant, and when war broke out, he participated in the Sinai Campaign, and afterward he went on reserve duty from time to time. Even before the Six Day War called to reserve duty and was the commander of a tank division in his battalion. He served as an example for all the soldiers on the third day of the battles, on the 28th of Iyar 5727 (7.6.1967), during the battle in Jericho, when the tank in which he was riding overturned. He left a wife, a son and a daughter. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
