Ramati, Nathan (Nati)


Son of Ariela and Zvi. He was born on the 18th of Elul 5707 (18.8.1956) in Haifa. As a child, his family moved to Ramat Aviv in Tel Aviv, where he grew up and studied at the Oranim elementary school and the Alliance high school. Nati was a sports fan, especially water sports. In November 1974, he joined the IDF and served in a special unit in the Israel Navy, where he passed a long series of classified courses, a diving course and a combat paramedics course. Well, trust him. He fulfills his duty, a straight man, a thinking soldier, capable of organization and management, disciplined and responsible. “During his regular service, he advanced to the ranks and was discharged with the rank of sergeant. After his discharge from the IDF, he married and established his home in Tel Aviv, studied law at Tel Aviv University and began working as an intern at a law firm. 1982 Promoted to Major General. In April 1985 he was called up for reserve duty and was instructed to instruct a group of soldiers who were in a period of preparation for their service in his special unit. On April 2, 1985, he carried out an example exercise – climbing on the bridge of the railroad tracks near Atlit. During the exercise, a train passed and the locomotive hit it and dropped it into the valley. Nati was critically wounded. He was brought to the hospital and fought for four days. On the 6th of Nisan 5745 (April 6, 1985) he died of his wounds. He was 29 when he fell. Nati was laid to rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul in Tel Aviv. He left behind a wife, parents, brother and sister. The commander of his unit wrote in a letter of condolence to his family: “Nati enlisted in the unit and served as a combatant for the elite unit of the unit for four years.
