Rakir, Shalom


Born to Moshe Hacohen and Carolina. He was born on August 11, 1930, in Srebrenica, Germany. Immigrated to Israel in 1936. Graduated from the Shalva Gymnasium in Tel Aviv. He belonged to the Haganah and was a youth counselor in the Gadna and was a trainer at the Aerobatics Club, was sent to Italy to study flight, liked music, was drafted into the IDF in April 1948 and reached the rank of lieutenant colonel. Next to Mishmar HaEmek, on the 1st of Av 5711 (August 3, 1951), fell in the line of duty and was put to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
