Rahav, Shani
Daughter of Leah and Zvi. She was born on September 12, 1976 in Ramat Gan. A third daughter of a family of three. She spent two years studying at the “New High School” in Ramat Gan and finishing at Ankori High School in Tel Aviv. Shani was a girl and a girl full of joie de vivre, loved to laugh, to dance and sing at every opportunity. She loved to sing and perform and participated in all the ceremonies in the school in singing and acting. Shani was also a soloist in the representative band of the Ankori School. The Ankori School received a certificate of excellence for its social contribution to the school. She also sings in Ramat Gan’s young music company. Until the 10th grade she was active in the Scouts movement, and later volunteered for activities in the Meretz movement, and discovered a political mix of songs that she left behind, attesting to her talent for writing. At the end of basic training she was assigned to serve in the air force in a control unit, in an operational position that requires a high level and professional ability. She loved her job and fulfilled it professionally, responsibly and with devotion. Was very socially acceptable and active in the only Arab organization and in educational and cultural events and even participated in singing and acting. Shani won second place in the Young Singers Competition, held at the base. On January 4, 1996, a second woman fell while performing her duties in a road accident. Shani was laid to rest in the Kiryat Shaul military cemetery. She was nineteen years old. Survived by her parents and two sisters – Inbal and Hadas. The unit commander said: “Standing here, remembering the smile, the joy of life in which you shared with us in eight months of joint service and the excitement that caused us to sing them, singing confidently above the stage in the last few evenings. Deep, that involves losing you – a soldier and a friend … “
