Rahamim, Menashe (Nazem)


The eldest son of Rivka and Rafael, was born on January 31, 1924 in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq. At the age of two his parents immigrated to Israel and settled in Kolonia first and in 1928 moved to Jerusalem. When he was 17, he decided to go to the kibbutz, because he loved the life of agriculture and labor, but his parents opposed it and he remained in the city. Years later, he did not forget his love. He set up a vegetable garden and built a chicken coop, built a house for him and devoted great energy to building his farm. Was a member of the Haganah. With the UN General Assembly resolution of 29 November 1947 on the division of the country into two states and the outbreak of the War of Independence, he took part in several battles in the Sheikh- Rahat underwent special training and excelled as a sniper, and Menashe fell on the 9th of Tammuz 5708 (July 16, 1948) at the Turgeman post in the section of the Ungerin Houses in Jerusalem in an attack by the Arabs on this position. He was able to shoot many of the attackers before he hit a ball in the head. He was buried in Sheikh Bader. He left behind a wife, Hadassah. On the 28th of Elul 5710 (10.9.1950) he was put to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
