Rada, Meir


Meir, son of-Yonah and Saadia, was born on March 22, 1954 in Tel Aviv. He studied at Hillel Elementary School in Kfar Shalem and at the Galilee Elementary School in Tel Aviv. Afterward he continued to study for two years at the “Shevach” vocational school in Tel Aviv, specializing in general frameworks, and a year in evening studies at the vocational school in Abu Kabir. When Meir was eight years old, his family moved from Kfar Shalem to Hatikvah, and his youth passed through it. Before he was drafted into the army, he worked for a few months as a metalworker in Tel Aviv. Meir was drafted into the IDF at the beginning of May 1972 and was assigned to the infantry brigade Golani. On the 22nd of Tishrei 5740 (October 22, 1973), he fell in battle for the conquest of Hermon, and during the battle he took a stretcher in his hands and ran on the battlefield to rescue He was left to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul and left behind his parents, four brothers and a sister, and was promoted to the rank of sergeant in a letter of condolence to the bereaved family: “Your son fought as he fought. Who knows for what he is fighting, courageously, bravely, with dedication and sacrifice. “
