Rachlis, Nachman


Son of Dvora and Yerachmiel, was born on 26.1.1918 in the town of Geisin, Ukraine, and was three years old when the family immigrated to Israel during the Third Aliya in 1921. Nachman grew up in Haifa, completed a high school and worked as a clerk in the Electric Company. From the age of 16 he was active in the Haganah. He fought with the Haganah members in Haifa until the liberation of the city, and then demanded that his commanders join him in a combat unit in the Carmeli Brigade. , Which was intended to destroy the Syrian bridgehead in the Mishmar Hayarden region and fell in the difficult battles in this area on Tuesday, July 10, 1948. He was laid to rest at the military cemetery in Rosh Pina.
