Rabinowitz, Assaf

Son of Gershon and Elya. Born on March 9, 1942 in Haifa, he studied at the Kibbutz Ruchama School and completed his elementary studies there, and then continued on to the kibbutz educational institution, where he showed his seriousness, responsibility and quiet. He was open in himself and did not come among a large crowd, but anyone who knew him knew that there was always a storm going on in him, and he was straightforward, simple and innocent, and was not inclined to connect to others with a pat on the back and with a loud blessing. In August 1960 he was drafted into the IDF and after finishing his song And it was arranged periodically called up for reserve duty. He was again called to serve in the Six-Day War and on the fifth day of the battles, he fell on a battle in Ras Sudar, Sinai, where six enemy soldiers barricaded themselves and sniped at the soldiers of the unit who were in the nearby parking lot Assaf was promoted to the rank of captain after his death, and was buried at the emergency military cemetery in Bari and later transferred to the eternal resting place at the Ruhama cemetery.
