Rabin, Uriel


Son of Nissim Hacohen and Simchah. He was born on March 11, 1934 in Jaffa. As a child, his family moved to Holon where he received his education. After completing his elementary studies (at the school there), he went to work and worked in frameworks. He was a member of the Hanoar Haoved movement. Participated in the “Hapoel” orchestra in Holon. He was loved and devoted to all, with a good disposition and a smile always hovering on his lips. In 1951 he was drafted into the IDF and completed his service to the satisfaction of his commanders, served in the Engineering Corps and specialized in mine clearance, which involves constant danger of death, whether in combat or in training. His sister: “Is my friend allowed to die for the homeland, and I do not? It’s alright! Once they die … “He volunteered to dismantle enemy mines and in this operation, in the battle of Rafiah in the Sinai system, he died on the 28th of Mershvan 5717 (November 2, 1956) and was buried at the military cemetery in Bari. On March 6, 1957, he was put to rest at the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, where he left a wife and daughter.
