Pundak, Menachem
Son of Yishayahu and Tzela. He was born on the 9th of Iyar 5637 (20.4.1937), during the 1936-1939 events in Ashdot Ya’akov, where he completed his studies at the regional school in Beit Yerah and achieved significant achievements in them. He was gifted with wisdom and emotion, and these characteristics were also revealed in his studies in mathematics and in the Bible, as well as in the life of society. He always joined EL AL when he was drafted into the IDF in November 1955. He was a pilot and was promoted to the rank of captain, after serving compulsory military service, and for more than eight years (the last of his life) he gave to the Israeli army and fell on 18 Iyar 5724 (29.4.1964) in the course of his duties, he was the commander of a navigational course, and was an example of a courageous, talented and intelligent commander who took care of his students during and after work hours, and was brought to eternal rest in Ashdot Yaakov. Two members of the kibbutz took out two pamphlets in his memory – one on the 30th anniversary of his death and one on the anniversary.
