Priante, Jacob
Jacob, son of Ruchama and Joseph, was born in 1943 in Iazany, Morocco, and in the year 5707 (1947) the family immigrated to Eretz Israel and settled in the town of Sderot. Jacob, or Yankele, as his friends called him, studied at the Kfar Silver High School, was a member of the Sderot Municipal Youth Club and was a regular basketball player in the local group. Yaakov was drafted into the IDF in February 1962 and was assigned to the Armored Corps, where he underwent a tank artillery course and a tank skills course, and was discharged from regular service in August 1964 and began working in the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council as a tractor operator and supervisor of machines in Manfata. As a secretary at the Shikmim school in Sderot and later as a clerk in the Mivtachim branch, he was loved by his co-workers and earned the approval of his superiors, and when the Yom Kippur War broke out Yaakov was drafted and sent to Sinai. Which took place on October 10, 1973, his tank was hit by enemy fire and he fell Was brought to rest in the cemetery in Sderot, where he left behind his parents, four brothers and four sisters, and was promoted to the rank of sergeant.In a letter of condolences to the bereaved family, Defense Minister Moshe Dayan wrote: “Yaakov was a devoted soldier and an excellent friend.
