Poznick, Mordechai


Mordechai, son of Ester and Shmuel z “l, was born in Poland on January 1, 1936 and immigrated to Israel as part of Youth Aliyah in 1948 together with his brothers and two sisters. He studied in the elementary schools of Kibbutz Ein Harod and Gvat, and graduated from the high school in Kibbutz Gvat. Mordechai was friendly, responsible and serious in his approach to life. With the will to succeed and the ability to initiate, plan and carry out any task assigned to him. He was an apprentice and counselor in the Hanoar Haoved Vehalomed movement. Mordechai was drafted into the IDF in mid-December 1953 and served in the Golani Brigade in various infantry positions. He successfully completed a course for topography guides and officers’ course, and was an outstanding officer, commander and example instructor for his soldiers. He also had knowledge and expertise in the fields of mapping, topography, knowledge of the land and familiarity with the area. As an officer in the IDF, he received a special certificate of appreciation for preparing the march of soldiers from the Golani Brigade on his journey from Beersheba to Metula, and was among the 100 outstanding soldiers presented to President Yitzhak son of Zvi on Independence Day in 1955. Who was released from regular and permanent service in the IDF, began working at Reich Garage Ltd. with his father-in-law, Mr. Eliezer Reich. He attended evening courses in automotive mechanics. He progressed through his studies until he received a “senior garage manager” certificate. In his place of work, he is a great innovator and initiator of programs for improving interpersonal relationships and improving work and professional standards. During the reserve service, he continued to serve in the infantry unit and took a commando officer course, where he received letters of appreciation for his assistance in preparing the unit’s training, and was promoted to the rank of captain. In order to improve the “sea and land” trips, Mordechai purchased a rubber boat with an auxiliary motor and used to sail with his family, and set up a special car for long trips in the country. Mordechai was a husband, father, son, a model, and during the Yom Kippur War Mordechai was drafted and served as an officer Was killed in a combat unit in southern Sinai until his fall, when he fell in the line of duty on 24 January 1974 and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul, leaving a wife, Rachel, And Yael.
