Porush, Yizhel


Son of Naftali and Puah. Born in Jerusalem on June 23, 1952. He studied at the Achdut Elementary School in Kiryat Motzkin, then studied for one year at the Lienhartz High School in Kiryat Motzkin, and a year later studied In the joint school at the Sulam-Tzur. Prior to joining the IDF, Yitshel joined the IAF Technical College and was trained there in an interception aircraft training course, where he was drafted into the IDF in early November 1971 and assigned to the Air Force. He completed basic training while still in the technical school, and when he enlisted, he started working in this school. His military career was a jet fighter mechanic. After serving in the regular army, Yehezkel joined the standing army of the Israel Defense Forces and was to serve in this unit until the end of 1977. He was assessed in his unit as a very good professional, as a devoted and loyal soldier and as a responsible and reliable person. During his service, Yehezkel reached the rank of First Sergeant. On the 20th of Elul 5706 (20.9.1976), Yizel died during his service. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. Survived by his parents and brother. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “… Yezhel excelled in a strong will, a sense of responsibility, and a great deal of workmanship.
