Poltzik, Mordechai

Mordechai ben Bella and Aaron was born on the 24th of Adar, March 10, 1926, in Tel Aviv. From his youth he belonged to the Hashomer Hatzair youth movement and was a member of the Hapoel soccer team in the moshavah. He was an alert, sturdy, broad-shouldered boy. In April 1942, during a youth movement trip to Masada and Ein Gedi, a gernade from the group escort’s belt exploded from the heat, injuring Mordechai amongst many others. Mordechai was wounded in the stomach and for several days he fought for his life. On the 25th of Nisan, April 12, 1942, he died. He was laid to rest in the Petah Tikva cemetery. Mordechai left behind parents and a sister.
