Polonsky, Moshe
Son of Zehava and Aryeh was born on March 23, 1920, in the city of Baranovitz, in White Russia (then Poland),He moved to Central Asia, secretly preserving his loyalty to the idea of “Hashomer Hatzair,” but he fulfilled his duty as a Soviet citizen and was drafted into the army, serving in Ural and in 1944 in Stalingrad. And went to Germany where he continued to be active in the Hashomer Hatzair movement, founded and directed a school, was detained for another nine months to work for the movement in the German camps. In the spring of 1948 he also immigrated to Israel to his family and kibbutz, and later took up the concentration of weapons there. As he stood guard on the hilltop of Mitzpeh Hashlosha, opposite the Gilboa, he was wounded in the stomach by a stray bullet and died on January 19, 1949, after four days of agony. He was laid to rest in the cemetery at Tel Amal. Kibbutz Tel Amal published a pamphlet in his memory.
