Pollack, Moshe

He was born in 1889 in Hungary and later immigrated to Vienna, capital of Austria. He specialized in raising chickens and bees and in 1922, after joining the hachshara in Vienna, he immigrated to Palestine. In Israel, he first worked as a tobacco grower in Rosh Pina, then joined the Gdud Ha’avoda and after leaving, spent some time in Magdiel. Moshe joined the ranks of the Haganah and in the mid-1930s settled in Kiryat Bialik and worked in the fish ponds on the JNF’s land in Kardani. During the bloody events of 1936-1939, on 26 Tevet (17.1.1939), on his way to his place of work, he was attacked by Arabs, and during a struggle with the assailants he was stabbed and killed. He was laid to rest in the Haifa cemetery. In the obituary in Davar, it was written that “he was a symbol of good and integrity, complained about nothing and accepted everything with love.”
