Pollack, David (Irwin)

Son of Emilia and Joseph, was born in Hamburg, Germany on July 13, 1905. During his studies at the Gymnasium, he joined Maccabi and was active in the Bar Kokhba Association, then founded and managed a small brush factory He was active in the local Zionist Association and in 1934 he immigrated to Israel with his wife and renewed his activity in Tel Aviv, and was active in the ranks of Maccabi as a fine hockey player and in the Maccabi Maccabim-Atid and was elected as a member of this committee. During the bloody riots of 1936-1939, he participated actively in the Hagana service and volunteered for the special police in Tel Aviv, during World War II he was a member of the “Civil Guard”. He was unable to go to combat duty because of his poor health, but could not sit in his home and volunteered for local guard services, while on duty at the “Yona camp” he was injured during an Egyptian air strike and was killed on Wednesday, July 11, 1948. He was laid to rest at the Nahalat Yitzhak Military Cemetery. He left a wife, Hannah.
