Ben Hava and Kalonymus. Was born on 17.9.1956 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to religious-Zionist parents. He studied at the Beit Chinuch elementary school in Brazil. At an early age, Reuben showed artistic ability. The painting interested him more than his studies, so his parents decided to send him to various art circles. Reuben also loved cinema and from a young age he started filming at the Cinema Lovers Club. He completed his high school studies at the IADE School of Art in Brazil, specializing in architecture and advertising. He was a member of the Bnei Akiva youth movement in a group of Jewish students in Brazil. Reuven, who had artistic talent, took part in painting circles and specialized mainly in surreal painting. His paintings adorn the walls of the homes of his family and friends. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Brazil, was trained as an architect and began to work in his profession in industrial projects. In 1984, shortly before his parents, he immigrated to Israel. After completing his ulpan studies at Kibbutz Ma’ayan Zvi, he was accepted to film studies at the Beit Zvi School in Ramat Gan. He completed his studies and specialized in photography. In April 1988, Reuven was drafted into the IDF, was assigned to the Engineering Corps and completed a Plesim course, and after his release began to integrate into the Israeli film industry as a photographer and assistant photographer, he took part in the film ‘Rambo 3’ and local productions, and worked for a while on educational television. And was known by his friends for his hobby, creating a tiny bicycle from a single barbed wire, Reuven was called for periods of reserve duty, and fell on his way to the military cemetery in Petah Tikva on February 3, 1991. Survived by his parents, brother and sister – Daniel and Naomi. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “His character is gifted with special qualities that are unique to a loyal and devoted son who can explain to every person.” Reuven did his duty with devotion and loyalty.
