Plai, Golan (“Lenny”)


The son of Netzachiah and Ephraim. He was born on January 6, 1970 in Jerusalem, the youngest son of his parents and at a young age he was orphaned by his mother. Golan grew up in a warm home and blessed the love of the land and of the human being wherever he was. He began his studies at the Kiryat Anavim Elementary School in Jerusalem and continued at the ORT high school in Jerusalem, specializing in equipment and control, where he achieved high professional achievements. He was punctual in all his actions and duties. From an early age, Golan stood out for leadership, which was reflected in his daily life in the school and in the youth movement Haoved Vehalomed, where he was active. At the end of July 1988, he was drafted into the IDF, and was assigned to serve in the Armored Corps, completing various courses, including an officers’ course, and serving as deputy company commander. . On January 20, 1992, Golan fell during his service and was brought to eternal rest in the military section of Beit Shemesh cemetery. Survived by a father and three sisters – Dalia, Dafna and Orna. In his letter of condolence to the bereaved family, the unit commander wrote: “… Golan was an example in the unit, in his high morals and in his professional level … He aspired to absolute perfection …”
