Pinkas, Abraham-David


Son of Malka and Moshe, was born on November 9, 1929 in the city of Krosno, Poland, to a family of workers. He immigrated to Israel in 1936, lived in Rehovot and finished elementary school there. From childhood he was a member of Hashomer Hatzair and spent all his leisure time in the kibbutz. He served as a guide, treasurer and librarian, performing all practical works. For a living he worked in a printing press in Rehovot. Avraham-David said to go to the kibbutz after helping his parents. “All my years my parents worked for me, now I will repay them” – he said. Even when the Hagana was in the underground, it underwent a departmental medics course, which suited its character. When the War of Independence broke out, he was one of the first members of the Hagash Brigade and served in the Givati ​​Brigade, where only a few of the members of this company survived, escorting convoys to Jerusalem and the Negev and participating in many battles, including the battle for Hulikat during Operation Yoav. This battle, on Sunday, 3 November 1948, during an attack on one of the Egyptian “Burma Road” authorities, south of Iraq – Suidan, was slightly injured in the leg. Despite his injury, he returned to the area to remove a wounded person, was hit by a shell and died. He was laid to rest at the Warburg military cemetery.
