Pinchas, Daniel (“Danny”, “Dolly”)

Pinchas, Daniel (“Danny”, “Dolly”)

Son of Zechariah and Esther. He was born on July 15, 1935, in the Shivat Zion neighborhood of Rishon Letzion. He studied at the “Heder” and at the Habib elementary school, and later moved to the local real gymnasium and studied there until his studies there. He was recruited to the IDF in July 1953. After his training, he was transferred to the course of the General Staff and completed with great success, and his commanders recognized his commanding skills and military talents and assigned him to an officers’ course that was about to open. Until the opening of the course he went south and on the 1st of Nissan 5714 (April 4, 1954) he fell while performing his duties – when he went on a tour with his friends. One of them boarded a mine that had been buried on the patrol road and thus died along with three of his companions. Daniel was laid to rest in the cemetery in Rishon Letzion. After he fell, a book appeared in his memory that included chapters of his own and on him.
