Pinchas, Avraham
The son of Sarah and Shalom was born on June 27, 1928 in Bnei Brak. As a child he studied at a Talmud Torah in Bnei Brak. Because of the hard financial times of the family, he had to work at an early age His friends recognized him as a quiet, modest and honest boy. He continued studying at night. As a member of the Haganah, Avraham participated in many activities during the struggle against the British and responded to every call out of great recognition and responsibility. Avraham was one of the first to join the army at the outbreak of the War of Independence and served in the Alexandroni Brigade, despite his poor health. After his enlistment, Avraham suffered from his eyes and the doctor decided to release him from the army, but Avraham removed his doctor’s orders from his superiors, went to battle. He fell in battle at Kakun on the 27th of Iyar, June 5, 1948 and was laid to rest in the military cemetery in Netanya.
