Pilitzer, Pinchas (Paul)


Pinchas, son of Chaya and Dov Pilitzer, was born on July 9, 1928 in Lodz, Poland. He boarded an illegal immigrant ship that was caught near Haifa by the British and arrived in Israel in January 1947 after his release from Cyprus. Pinchas fell in an attack on Iraq Al-Manshiyya on October 16, 1948 and managed to save the lives of friends. He was buried in a mass grave, with all the fallen of this battle, in Gat. On September 29, 1949 he was transferred with his comrades-in-arms who fell with him to eternal rest in the Nachlat Yitzhak military cemetery.
