Pick, Gideon


Son of Shlomo and Tova. He was born on July 7, 1937, in Neve Ya’akov, near Jerusalem, where he received his first education at the Chaim Arlosoroff School for Children in Jerusalem and after his parents moved to Tel Mond (“Herut”) in In 1947, he continued his studies at the Gush Katif school, where he received agricultural education at the Kanot high school, belonged to the Hanoar Haoved movement and later to Hashomer Hatza’ir. He was a guard in the reconnaissance unit, and was a serious, thoughtful, and responsible man in everything he did, and his readiness to help others was discovered more than once during On Friday, 10 March 1956, he took part in a combat operation in the vicinity of Qalqiliya and, after carrying two wounded comrades, also took his commander, who was seriously wounded, while he was carrying him. He was laid to rest at the cemetery in Tel Mond. A memorial room was opened in the “Kanot” school. His memory was mentioned in Uri Milstein’s book, “The Paratroopers’ Wars”
