Pichtenbaum, Hillel


Hillel, son of David and Tova Pichtenbaum, was descended from a Hasidic and pioneering family (his grandfather was one of the founders of Kfar Hasidim). He was born in 1937 in Jerusalem. He joined the IDF in October 1955 as part of the Nachal Brigade. Hillel fell in battle on 26 Cheshvan, 30 October 1956. He was buried in the Military Cemetery of the Emergency Army in Shelah and in 1957 he was put to rest ih the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. His memory was mentioned in Uri Milstein’s book, “The Paratroop Wars.”
