Philip, Dan (Dancy)


Was born on May 9, 1957 in Bucharest, Romania, although his parents were not close and aware of Israel. After his birth, they decided to immigrate to Israel in order to prevent their son from suffering the anti-Semitism. He studied in Bucharest for one year at an elementary school, and when he arrived in Israel he joined the second grade at the Nirim School in Neve David, Haifa, where the family lived when he immigrated. Haifa, of the Association of Photography Clubs, participated in exhibitions of artistic photography and was a young exhibitor in them, and he studied at the Hugim High School for two years. He also studied Judo at the Beit Hagefen in Haifa, and Danny loved the country and its landscapes and toured its length and breadth, he liked animals and flowers and knew how to enjoy everything that was Yaffa and positive. His parents asked to postpone his service, so that he could finish 12th grade and finish his matriculation exams, but their request was rejected, and Danny was drafted into the IDF In his spare time during his service he volunteered to study for himself, Daniel married Nurit and they had a daughter, Sarit. He studied electronics and specialized in sound recordings on television. He was a member of the National Association of Israeli Journalists and worked as an independent recorder on Israeli television and on foreign television networks. He was a disciplined and responsible man, seeking justice and always willing to help others. His friends respected him and liked him. In one of the television strikes Danny volunteered to guide students who were working on making a film in their thesis. He devoted two weeks to the youth and guided them in photography, directing, acting and voice production. After the fall was introduced the film was dedicated to his memory. Danny fell in battle in Lebanon on October 25, 1983, in a clash with terrorists. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on the Carmel coast. He was 26 years old.
