Zion, son of Shoshana and Shlomo (Salomon) was born on September 1, 1954 in Morocco and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1956. He studied at the regional elementary school in Tel Mond and then continued his studies at the agricultural school “Eron” in Hadera, and from the age of thirteen he adhered to religious commandments and made sure to put on tefillin, and he excelled in Torah and Bible study, and the teachers praised him for his knowledge and knowledge. He studied the Bible many times, read many books on the subject of religion, and from time to time even wrote thoughts on issues he wanted to deepen. He also wrote poems and stories. When he was in elementary school, he was shy and withdrawn, quiet, withdrawn and modest in his ways. But when he started high school he became more sociable and easy to make friends with. The principal of the school wrote: “Zion studied diligently and his attitude toward work was serious, he was very popular among his classmates, he was responsible for the orchards industry and his young friends, and because of his love for peace and compromise, Between the staff of the institution and the students. ” Zion was very active, as if he had missed his time and wanted to make full use of it. He respected every man and man of manners in his elders. son of was devoted to his parents, loyal to them, taking care of his family and helping them. Zion was drafted into the IDF in early August 1972 and volunteered for the Golani Brigade as his older brother, and after completing his basic training, he was a serious, dedicated and responsible soldier and very popular with his commanders. He was asked to study in an officer’s course, but did not get to it, and during the Yom Kippur War his unit participated in battles against the Syrians at the level of the army, On the 22nd of Tishrei 5734 (22.10.1973), the last day of the war, Zion was struck in the head on the slopes of Mount Hermon and Varna He was brought to eternal rest in the cemetery in Kiryat Shaul on the 3rd of Elul 5734 (August 21, 1974). Survived by his parents, four brothers and two sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. In a letter of condolence to the bereaved family, his commander wrote: “Your son fell in battle for Mount Hermon, the most difficult battle in the Yom Kippur War, and he fought with his comrades, as he who fights for courage, heroism, devotion and sacrifice. All of us, that we have won your son fighting in our ranks, and honor for a family that has lost such a son. ” His parents donated a Torah scroll to the synagogue in Ein Sarid, where he used to pray every Sabbath and holidays.
