Peretz, Yitzhak


Yitzhak, son of Aliza and Machlouf, was born in 1949 in Morocco and immigrated to Israel with his family in 1955. He attended the religious school in Even Shmuel, and then continued to study for a year in the regional vocational high school in Shafir, After settling in Israel, Yitzhak’s family settled in Moshav Noam, where he was the best student in his class, and when he was in high school, he was also active in the Gadna. After completing his studies, he began working as a candidate at a gas station in Kiryat Gat and later worked at a gas station in Gedera. Until his last days, he used to come to his former teacher once a week and study with him a page of Gemara. He was a cheerful fellow, and he was always joking, always willing to help others. Yitzhak was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in early February 1967 and assigned to the Armored Corps, and after completing basic training, he served as a rifle commander in the armored corps of the Armored Corps, and during the officers’ course the Six Day War broke out. In his discharge certificate from the regular service, he was mentioned as a good soldier with organizational capabilities. After the liberation, Yitzhak worked at a gas station in northern Be’er Sheva and in his parents’ farm in the moshav. Later he served as secretary in Moshav Tzalfon and Ganey Yohanan. In one of the moshavim, there were many difficulties and Yitzhak did his best to bring order to the moshav and put him on the road. Indeed, he succeeded. He was going to marry his classmate from school. When the Yom Kippur War broke out, Yitzhak was called to his unit and participated with it as a symbol of sabotage in battles in the Golan Heights. According to his commander, Yitzhak was a courageous fighter and soldier dedicated to his comrades in the unit during the entire fighting. After the cease-fire, his battalion was transferred to Sinai, and Yitzhak, who was in good health, was forced to leave the area occasionally, but every time he returned, he was sent to hospital. On the 5th of Tishrei 5734 (February 5, 1974), Yitzhak fell in the line of duty in the Sinai. He was laid to rest in the military cemetery on Mount Herzl. Survived by his parents, two brothers and five sisters. After his fall, he was promoted to sergeant. His parents donated a Torah scroll to a synagogue; The booklet “Etz Chaim” published in memory of members of the Hapoel Hamizrachi moshavim who fell on the defense of the homeland saw things about him.
