Peretz, Tomer

The son of Esther and Chizkiyah. He was born on August 31, 1983 in Kiryat Shmona. A brother to Einav and Rotem. As early as his childhood Tomer’s good character traits were prominent; he was an independent child, determined and a good friend who was willing to help everyone. From an early age, he admired uniformed men – members of the security forces, the army and the police – and every year on Purim he would dress up as a policeman or a soldier. The older he became, the greater his breadth, his sense of responsibility, his readiness to volunteer, and to help anyone who asked for his high work ethic. Tomer respected his parents, was an exemplary older brother to Rotem, loved his extended family and was very much loved by his family and friends. In his Bar Mitzvah sermon he said, among other things, “It is a privilege to be the son of an elected people, and a resident of such a unique territory, and a great privilege to belong to the wonderful Peretz family. I am in my own right, and my responsibility is my own, and it is my honor that this is a task before me, and the education that I have received is my guiding light, with love and devotion to my people and my birth. ” During his high school years, Tomer volunteered for the Civil Guard and helped maintain security in his city. He knew no fear, and on the door of his room he stuck his slogan “No Fear”. His mother Esther recalls a case in which a barrage of Katyusha rockets was fired at Kiryat Shmona, and it was then that Tomer found it necessary to joke and laugh at himself. Tomer stood in his room by the window and saw a Katyusha that passed just above the building. “While standing in the living room, I said to everyone, ‘Run to the shelter, there is a Katyusha!’ Tomer ran up to me and said, ‘Mom, look! My hairs are standing on end!’ On June 1, 2003, Tomer was drafted into the IDF, and his parents and his friends accompanied him to the recruitment office. On Saturday morning he went with his cousin and good friend Erik to a motorcycle competition in Kfar Vitkin. On the night of 28 Sivan, 28.6.2003, when they returned home, a car accident occurred in the area of ​​Rosh Pina and the two were killed. Private Tomer Peretz fell during his service.
