Peretz, Ofra


Daughter of Hannah and Eitan. Ofra was born in Israel on December 13, 1960. She grew up in Moshav Brakha and studied at the Shafir Regional High School in the fashion and sewing sector, and after graduating from high school, she began studying nutrition and economics at a teachers’ seminary, and later became an economics teacher at a school in Yeruham. In 1991, Ofra married and moved to Kiryat Tivon in the north, where she served as a traffic patrol in the northern town of Neta. In 1993, when Ofra was pregnant, a cancerous tumor was discovered in her brain and she underwent immediate surgery. Fortunately, the fetus survived and Ben-Eitan was born to her eldest daughter, Daniel. Ofra later divorced and raised her two children alone, with great devotion and great love. Ofra liked to travel, sing and dance, and she loved the sea and trips on the beach. On the 29th of Av 5755 (29.7.1995), Sergeant Ofra died of cancer and died at the age of 35. She left a daughter and a son – Daniel and Eitan, mother of Hannah, and six brothers and sisters – Mazal, Gabi, Haim, Yehuda, Flora “So beautiful and young, full of laughter and joy. At the end, with courage and agony, you are uprooted from life and your fruits are orphaned, “wrote sister Tzipi, who raised Ofra’s children.
