Peretz, Michelle
Son of Ninet and Bogid was born in Tunis on October 23, 1952. His eldest son was in his family and received special treatment from his parents, brothers and sisters, and in 1965, at the age of 13 Immigrated to Israel and settled in Bnei Brak After completing his training from private teachers, he continued his studies at the “Makor Haim” school in Bnei Brak, without losing a year of studies, and attended the “Torah and Crafts” school in Tel Aviv. At the Rezem Comprehensive School in Bnei Brak, and was always diligent in his studies, with a delicate and sensitive character, taking into account the needs of others, and always willing to help others in his own way. Armored Corps. After a series of professional courses, he was stationed as a warehouse for spare parts for tanks. He was promoted to the rank of corporal in September 1972. In 1973 he was promoted to the rank of sergeant, and in 1974 he was discharged from the army and began studying economics and business administration at Bar-Ilan University. During his studies, he traveled for a while to the United States, but made sure to maintain contact with his family, especially with his mother. On his return to Israel he continued his studies, and in order to finance himself, he served as a special policeman. His job was to preserve the security of the country’s leaders – Golda Meir, Moshe Dayan and others. Although he was not a religious man, he began observing mitzvos after he married a traditional wife. He built his home in Bnei Brak and worked as an accountant in an industrial plant. In Operation Peace for the Galilee he was called up for reserve duty. His battalion was stationed in the central sector, near Lake Karun. On September 19, 1982, he went with his friends to the town of Rashia, which was close to his battalion’s camp. On the way he found a part of a cluster bomb, picked it up, and when he saw the danger they threw it. There was an explosion and Michel was killed. Two soldiers with him were wounded. He was 30 when he died. After his fall, Bar-Ilan University held a ceremony to distribute certificates to graduates. His parents received his diploma as a “graduate of Social Sciences in the expanded field of Economics and Business Administration.” The commander of his unit wrote to his family: “Michelle was a man of action, modest and quiet, and he knew how to accept the duty of service in a calm and confident atmosphere.” Michel was laid to rest at the Kiryat Shaul Military Cemetery in Tel Aviv. He left behind a pregnant wife and his son, who was born after his death, was named after him. He also left parents, three brothers and two sisters. A Torah library was established in his name at the Young Synagogue in Givat Hamoreh in Afula
