Peretz, Haim (Eko)


Son of Yitzhak and Victoria. He was born on August 7, 1947, in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. In 1949, when Chaim was about two years old, the family immigrated to Israel. Haim completed his studies at the “Mabuim” elementary school in the Negev and continued in ninth grade at the same school. He worked in an electrical products factory until the day he enlisted in the IDF in May 1965. He was a musician and loved reading, and served for more than a year in the army until he was on a Syrian mine near Almagor in the Upper Galilee. Severe burns on all parts of his body – and on the 14th of Tammuz 5726 (July 14, 1966) he died of his wounds and was brought to eternal rest in the military cemetery in Kiryat Shaul.
