Perach, Menachem (“Rachel”)


Son of Barko and Esther. He was born on 21.9.1938 in Bucharest, the capital of Romania. In 1952 the family immigrated to Israel. Menahem graduated from elementary school in Yavne’el and later studied electrical engineering at a vocational school in Akko evening classes. He found his bread as an electrician. He was drafted into the IDF in November 1955 and served in the Sinai Campaign in early 1955. After his discharge from the army, he would occasionally go to reserve duty, and during the Six-Day War he participated in the reserves, and on the fifth day he was on the 9th of June 1967, Between Safed and Gadot as a model tank commander with knowledge and initiative. He was injured during a Syrian shelling of our forces. He left a wife and two little boys. He was buried in the emergency military cemetery in Bari and was later transferred to the eternal military cemetery in Nahariya. His name was immortalized in a booklet in memory of the sons of Nahariya who fell in the Six-Day War and in the Israeli army.
