Penry, Meir


Son of Sasson and Hedva. He was born on April 8, 1955 in Jerusalem. He studied at the Geulim Aleph Elementary School in the Baka neighborhood of Jerusalem and completed high school in the city’s Carmia Gymnasium. Meir was a talented student. Alongside his studies at the Gymnasium, Meir participated in evening courses at the ORT school in the Makor Haim neighborhood, where he studied drawing a building and building airplanes. From his childhood, he was interested in airplanes and airplanes, and even during elementary school he began to participate in the aviation and construction of model airplanes. He also collected stamps and collected coins and various bills of exchange. He devoted all his spare time to these hobbies and to building model airplanes. But he also found time to read books. At an early age, Meir joined the Scouts youth movement and was a member of it for many years. Meir was a devoted and loyal son to his parents. Meir was drafted into the Israel Defense Forces in May 1973. After basic training he was sent to a infantry regiment in the north of Israel, and Meir took part in the fierce battles in the Yom Kippur War and participated in the battle for the Hermon post, Education. Throughout his military service, Meir tried to maintain close ties with his family and help the family. However, he did not neglect his favorite hobbies and occupations. On May 9, 1975, Meir fell to the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, leaving behind his parents, two sisters and a brother.
