Peniger, Ofer


Ofer, son of Yitzhak and Shoshana Peninger was born on September 4, 1942 in Kibbutz Givat Chaim. In August 1961 he was drafted into the IDF and volunteered for the Paratroopers Brigade. In the Six Day War he participated in the first battles for the liberation of East Jerusalem, the occupation of the Police Academy and Ammunition Hill. On June 26, 1967, Ofer fell in a face-to-face battle at the police academy, where he was hit in the ditch, as always, at the head of the force. He left a wife and was laid to rest at the military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem.
