Peltz, David


Son of Nahum and Yosepha. He was born in Wroclaw, Poland, on February 23, 1947. He immigrated to Israel in 1957. He studied at the elementary school in Kibbutz Hanita and then graduated from Neve Tzedek in Tel Aviv, where he studied for four years. He worked in the Tel Aviv Municipality when he reached the age of enlistment and was drafted into the IDF in July 1965 and served in the Armored Corps. The Six-Day War broke out and it is still in service. On the second day of her battles, on the 27th of Iyar 5727 (June 6, 1967), he participated in the battle over the Rafah outposts. In the same battle, when his tank was hit directly, the crew’s soldiers were wounded and the tank began to burn. After David hurried out and rescued the wounded gunner, he placed him behind a shelter, and he returned to the tank to extract the charge, but at that time he was hit and fell. He was buried in the emergency military cemetery in Bari and was later transferred to the eternal military cemetery on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem. After they fell they were promoted to lieutenant. The IDF Chief of Staff expressed his courage, spirit of volunteerism and dedication to the cause.
